Encryption For Kids

This week you will learn an Encryption technique which uses a system which is similar to the Co-ordinate system of Mathematics i.e. letters are chosen from different words found in different lines of a piece of text and their positions are mentioned in the form of coordinates ( Line number, Word number and position of letter). The coordinates of the letters are separated from the other by using a dot.

Consider the following sentence:

181.133.142.134.162.183 is a Cipher made from the sentence above and we can decipher it in the following manner.

Explanation:

The number 181 indicates the 1^st line, the 8^th word (‘person’) and the 1^st letter in the word ‘person’. Hence, 181 means ‘p’.

Similarly, 133= r,  142 = a, 134 = y, 162 = e and 183 = r

Hence, 181.133.142.134.162.183 = prayer

Now, you decipher the following by using sentence -2.

The table given above contains all the numbers from 1 to 100. Some of the squares contain both a number and a letter of the English Alphabet.

Starting from the square numbered 1 to 56 in the table, write all the letters in the same order as they are found in the table i.e. the letter found in square 1 is ‘W’, then the letter found in square 2 is ‘H’ and so on.

If a square contains only a number but no letter then leave a blank. For example, the square 17 contains no letter. So, leave a blank in the 17^th position.

After completing your task, read the beautiful message which was hidden inside.
